RAINE Work In Progress
This page describes changes, from several programmers, that have been submitted to the
RAINE team. Feel free to use any information or screenshots present here, on your site.
Keep in mind, that altough these are submitted changes to the RAINE source code, they
might not be included in the next official release for several reasons, for example,
some may break existing drivers, contain a serious bug that will cause RAINE to crash,
etc.
2001/04/15 Changes from Warlock: Fixed the mouse crosshair in Battle Shark. Implemented several control enhancements and options in Space Gun, selectable via fake dipswitches.
2001/04/10 Changes from Emmanuel Anne:
New game supported: Battle Shark
2001/04/08 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Added a screen color depth selection menu in the video options screen. Emulated the sound in Hotdog Storm.
2001/04/07 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Fixed the looping sound in F3 games. Fixed the music rate in toaplan2 games (Armed Police Batrider, etc),
thanks to a patch Added a continous play option which can automatically save a game on exit, and restore it on startup.
2001/03/25 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Implemented a new experimental sound synchronization method.

2001/03/06 Changes from Emmanuel Anne and Antiriad: Added 16-bit color depth support to the majority of the games. Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Implemented hardware sprite zooming in most of the Psikyo and Cave games (Gunbird, Sengoku Ace, Battle K-Road, Donpachi, Dodonpachi, Uopoko, ESP Ra.De., Dangun Feveron, and Guwange)
2001/03/01 Changes from Karma: Optimized the new Draw8x8_xxx_Packed_xxx gfx functions to Asm. Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Added the new spp8x8_16 and spp8x8_32 files with fixes for parallelism and some fixes for the 32bpp version. Also added a new version of newspr2.c with new flipping functions needed for the _Rot interface
2001/02/27 Changes from Karma: Optimized the spr16x16_8.s gfx routines to Asm, this made games 15% to 20% faster. Ex: Metal Black. Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Started a major gfx core rewrite of many Taito custom chip functions, necessary to add 16/32bpp support to the Taito F3 games.
2001/02/25 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Implemented line scrolling in Uo Poko.
2001/02/22 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Added sound in Super Chase.
2001/02/14 to 2001/02/21 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Fixed many bugs and changed some gui functions. Changes from Richard Bush: Started a preliminary driver of Three Wonders.
2001/02/14 Changes from Mila'76: Fixed the ROM loading in Tetris (Taito), so that RAINE no longer requires the Nastar ROMs to be present.
2001/02/13 Changes from Emmanuel Anne:
New game supported: Donpachi Made several changes to the Cave driver. Made many changes and cleanups to rom loading functions, ymz280b and adpmc sound setup, etc.
2001/02/09 Changes from Warlock: Added analog control support to Chase H.Q. Changes from Gerado Oporto: Added Bubble Symphony US Romset. Added lots of dipswitches fixes/additions to the toaplan2 driver. Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Fixed some bugs on the Toaplan1 driver and a few other drivers. Fixed sound on the Technos games (Ex: Wrestlefest). Changes from Richard Bush:
New game supported: Cuby Bop Added Tube It (Taito, 1990, variant of Cachat).

2001/02/08 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Added many dipswitches to the Toaplan1 driver. Made some fixes to some old drivers. Changed the autoswitch resolution code to accept any resolution wanted by the driver when in windowed mode in linux. Changes from Karma: Asm optimizations made in the spr8x8_8.s gfx routines (Ex: Tests showed 6% speed increase in Darius2d driver).

2001/01/23 RAINE Status If you're wondering why no WIP reports were posted here, for over a month, it's because most development was aimed at getting RAINE ready for it's release. This release should happen some time next week. Emmanuel (Tux) has posted some more details on the message board.
2001/01/21 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Taito F3 sound emulation! A special thanks to the M.A.M.E. Team, in particular Aaron Giles, for the ES5506 sound driver.
2000/12/17 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Remade most of the sound FM interface.
2000/12/12 The official RAINE W.I.P. page is online! This page was proposed to the RAINE team, for two reasons: 1) To encourage and remind all past, present and future RAINE developers that their contributions are important. 2) To keep the public informed on the status of RAINE, which is now an open-source project that is still alive, thanks to the dedication of all the programmers who have contributed to this project. Here's hoping that this page will make a difference :-)

Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Fixed Battle K-Road and Sengoku Ace from crashing (with sound enabled).
2000/12/10 Changes from Emmanuel Anne: Added support for game status and game type to the GUI, now you can easely identify games that have no sound or tell RAINE to list all shoot'em ups... 79 shoot'em ups listed!!??? Antiriad, what were you thinking? ;) Pay no attention to the typo :-) this feature is still beeing worked on, and the database is not complete yet.
